View of beach from cliffs above. Taken at Moss Beach, north of Half Moon Bay on the California coast. This is our favorite beach in the bay area because it's close to home and because the water is (relatively) warm and calm. A tripod would have allowed the depth of field I wanted, but I think the result is still quite nice with the fence blurred in the foreground. |

This is a tree lined path on the cliffs at Moss Beach. The obviously planted trees provide a picturesque setting, often used for wedding pictures. A great place to walk when the weather is warm. Here I used my Leitz mini-pod to get lots of depth of field. |

Mushrooms in Big Basin State Park. This park has coastal redwoods, and can be a great way to escape the heat of Silicon Valley in the summer, but the twisty roads to get there can be exhausting. The park is large, and goes all the way to the California coast. |

The sunset as seen on an after-dinner walk with my uncle Lew. San Francisco sure has some wild sunsets! |

The view of the Ahwahnee Hotel from the Four Mile Trail in Yosemite National Park, California. They make an excellent breakfast that'll keep you going. We've never actually stayed there, or even had dinner there, as the prices are astronomical. The log construction reminds me of Montebello, where Anne-Lise and I were married (in Canada). |

A spectacular view of a pinnacle. The high clouds give it an unsettled look. You can just make out the river winding its way through the valley floor below. Taken from the Four Mile Trail in Yosemite. |

A beach south of Santa Cruz, on the California coast. These are the pillars supporting the pier used to access the cement ship resting a little offshore. Anne-Lise lost a flipper here a long time ago, when she helped get a bird free from a tangle of fishing line. No sign of it, needless to say! |

This shot was taken near the start of a very long hike near Point Reyes, on the California coast north of San Francisco. These cones caught my eye, and I like how the shot turned out. This photo was taken early in what turned out to be a very long day of hiking. |

Some very brightly colored flowers right on our street in
Belmont. I knew Vevlia would capture the color really well, and I wasn't
disappointed. I used my new macro lens, of course! Click here
