Our first stop on Mt Diablo was half-way up the mountain,
at about 2000 feet. This area is full of limestone rocks. Here Anne-Lise
is climbing on one. Mt Diablo is a great place for climbers :-) |
 |
After lots of ups and downs following trails that were not
all made by people, we stopped for lunch. I took this picture of bell grass. |
 |
We wanted to keep going in the general direction we started
it, but we kept running into impasses. At one of these, I stopped to take
this shot. Beautiful. We eventually found a way through to a real trail,
but it wasn't easy! |
 |
Out in the open, we came across huge fields covered in this
thorny plant. Definitely a place for hiking books rather than running shoes.
It was hot, but I sometimes still wished I'd worn jeans! |
 |
A pretty plant right next to the trail. |
 |
Cute puff-balls. Anne-Lise touches everything and reports
how it feels. These are soft, of course!
That's it for now. |
 |
Another shot of Anne-Lise. |

Danny climbing down. He's wearing his custom
camera carrying system, loosely modeled after mine. |
