Limestone Formation Hike 1999

Danny, Anne-Lise and I went for one of our usual hikes off Skyline Drive in the hills to the west of Silicon Valley. This particular hike was in an area we've gone mountain biking several times before, but this time we decided to explore on foot. We saw a spot marked as limestone formations on the map and decided to see what they were.

Shot on Fuji Astia 100 color slide film.

On the way there, I saw this unusual shape on a tree.
Still on the way there, I took another texture shot.
This is the first shot of the limestone formations. The limestone has been eroded in strange patterns. Because of the low light and lack of a tripod, I was quite limited in what I could do. I'd love to go back with a tripod.
Anne-Lise out on a ledge.
More of the same.
One of the shots I didn't get was of a pillar left standing while the surrounding limestone was eroded away.
This shot of a tree on the top of a hill near the limestone formation looks like something quite different ;-)
A close-up of some interesting tree bark.
A burnt tree stump.
This shot of Danny wasn't taken on the same hike, but I put it here anyway. This was just a walk in our neighborhood.
