This is a view off the coast of Fajardo. Fajardo is the ferry departure point for the islands of Culebra and Vieques . There are many other smaller offshore islands (one is visible in this picture).

One of the first things I did was sign up for a scuba/snorkeling boat trip to one of the little offshore islands "Palomino". The dive instructor gave me a tip to visit the island of Culebra and stay at "Mamacita's"

After the scuba/snorkeling trip they dropped me off at the dock of the "El Conquistador" resort. This is a 450 million dollar resort covering an entire small mountain. This picture shows about a third of the main part of the resort. Traveling from the top of the hill down to the rest of the hotel on the beach is a little tran-car (seen on the right side).
The resort has 3 golf courses, 4 swimming pools, 5 restaurants, and armies of catering and servants. Formal dress is required after 7:00pm. The rooms range from $350 to $2300 per night.

I only stayed for the afternoon and hung out around the pool marveling at the shear number and organization of the catering crew for the banquet dinner that evening...
Marveling at the sculptures...
Then it was back to my $50/night hotel room and exploring more of Fajardo the next day...
